Our Programs: Empowering Generations, Building Community
A Holistic Approach to Ministry
At the Ghanaian Presbyterian Church of Montreal, we believe that faith must be demonstrated through action. Our programs are designed to address the holistic needs of our community—caring for the mind, body, and spirit. From nurturing the potential of our youth to providing social safety nets for the elderly and immigrants, our initiatives aim to build a stronger, more resilient society in Laval and Greater Montreal.
Youth Empowerment & Mentorship (YPG)
The Young People’s Guild (YPG) is our flagship youth development program dedicated to teenagers and young adults (ages 13–30). In a world filled with digital distractions and social pressures, we provide a safe, drug-free environment where young people can find direction and purpose.
- Leadership Training: We organize workshops that teach public speaking, organizational skills, and ethical leadership, preparing our youth to be responsible citizens and future leaders in their workplaces and communities.
- Career & Academic Guidance: Leveraging the diverse professional backgrounds of our adult members, we offer mentorship to help students navigate their academic paths and career choices in the Canadian context.
- Social Connection: Through retreats, sports, and creative arts, we foster deep friendships that combat isolation and promote mental well-being.

Children’s Education (Sunday School)
We believe that the values instilled in childhood shape the adults of tomorrow. Our Children’s Ministry provides a structured educational environment for children ages 3 to 12.
- Moral Foundations: Beyond biblical literacy, our curriculum focuses on character building—teaching kindness, honesty, respect for authority, and compassion for the vulnerable.
- Cultural Heritage: We help Canadian-born children understand their rich Ghanaian heritage, bridging the generational and cultural gap between them and their parents.
Family Support & Social Welfare
Strong families are the bedrock of a healthy community. Our gender-based fellowships provide targeted support networks:
- Women’s Fellowship: This group acts as a powerful support system for women, addressing issues ranging from parenting and family health to spiritual growth. They are the frontline of our benevolence ministry, organizing visits to the sick and support for bereaved families.
- Men’s Fellowship: We encourage men to be positive role models and responsible leaders in their homes. This group provides a space for men to discuss challenges related to employment, fatherhood, and integration, fostering a brotherhood of accountability.
Newcomer Integration & Pastoral Care
Moving to a new country can be an overwhelming experience. Our organization serves as a critical “first stop” for many Ghanaian and African immigrants arriving in Quebec.
- Settlement Support: We assist newcomers in navigating the complexities of settling in Montreal, offering informal guidance on housing, employment resources, and adapting to life in a bilingual province.
- Counseling Services: Our Minister and trained Elders provide free, confidential pastoral counseling to individuals and couples facing marital difficulties, grief, mental health struggles, or spiritual crises.
Music & Cultural Arts
Our Church Choir and Singing Band are not just about performance; they are about cultural preservation and skill development. Members receive training in voice, musical theory, and traditional African instrumentation. This program allows us to share the joy and vibrancy of Ghanaian culture with the wider Canadian community through music.
