EGLISE PRESBYTERIENNE GHANEENNE DE MONTREAL

Mission

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Ghanaian Presbyterian Church of Montreal is to proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ and to foster a spiritual environment where individuals and families can grow in their faith. We are dedicated to building a community that bridges the gap between our rich Ghanaian heritage and our present life in Canada, providing a sanctuary of worship, support, and belonging.

We exist to:

  • Preach and Teach: Delivers the unadulterated Word of God to transform lives and equip saints for ministry.
  • Nurture: Provide pastoral care, counseling, and material support to immigrants, the elderly, and the youth.
  • Serve: Act as the hands and feet of Christ in the Greater Montreal and Laval areas through charitable outreach and community development.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a vibrant, Spirit-filled, and multi-generational congregation that serves as a beacon of hope in Quebec. We aspire to be a model of Christian love where cultural diversity is celebrated, the broken are healed, and the next generation is empowered to take up the mantle of leadership in both the church and society.

We see a future where our church is not just a Sunday destination, but a daily resource center for spiritual growth, educational support, and social integration for the community

Our Core Values

Our identity and actions are guided by these fundamental principles:

1. Biblical Authority We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. Our preaching, teaching, and decision-making are firmly rooted in Scripture.

2. Prayer & Worship We are a praying church. We believe that prayer is the engine of our ministry. Our worship services blend the solemnity of the Presbyterian tradition with the passionate, rhythmic praise of our African roots, creating an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit moves freely.

3. Family & Fellowship (Koinonia) We value the family unit as the foundation of the church and society. We strive to create a “home away from home” for our members, treating one another with brotherly love, respect, and accountability. No one walks alone in our community.

4. Holistic Discipleship We are committed to ministering to the whole person—spirit, soul, and body. This means we care about your spiritual salvation as well as your physical well-being, mental health, and social integration.

Excellence & Integrity We believe that God deserves our best. We strive for excellence in our administration, our music, our facilities, and our stewardship of the financial resources entrusted to us. We operate with transparency and integrity, honoring the trust of our members and donors.

Strategic Objectives

To turn our vision into reality, we focus on four key pillars of ministry:

  • Evangelism: Actively sharing the Gospel message with those who do not know Christ, both within the Ghanaian diaspora and the wider Canadian population.
  • Education: Investing in the Christian education of our children through Sunday School and equipping our adults through Bible Study and leadership training.
  • Social Responsibility: engaging in practical acts of kindness, such as supporting local food banks, visiting the sick in hospitals, and aiding new immigrants with settlement integration.
  • Cultural Stewardship: Preserving the positive aspects of our Ghanaian heritage and language for our children born in Canada, helping them understand their identity while embracing their Canadian citizenship.
